La Dépendance began life as a 17th century barn that housed itinerant farm workers during the summer harvests. The property came to us as a loft apartment in 2001, with amenities and a rooftop terrace.
Extensively renovated, the property now offers three double bedrooms – twin beds, a king size bed and a standard double – two extensive living areas and two bathrooms.
An updated kitchen has all electric appliances and there is an internal staircase leading to a refurbished roof terrace which has spectacular views up and down the Lizonne river valley.
The front door of La Dépendance opens onto a spacious foyer with wrought iron staircase leading to upstairs accommodation. The foyer also gives access to a second downstairs bedroom with twin beds.
Upstairs, the original loft is dramatic, spacious and light filled. The timber beams, many the shape of the original tree, are fastened without nails in a fashion dating back to the 11th century. A south facing double glazed wall bathes the interior in sunshine and light.
The downstairs foyer also gives access to a modern living room with lounge chairs and dining table particularly suited to summer living, with large double doors opening to the outside. There is a 2nd refrigerator and microwave here, and a washing machine and dryer. The new 3rd bedroom has a king size bed and there is a second bathroom with shower and toilet alongside.
There is electric central heating throughout and ample drawer and hanging space. There is satellite TV on both floors with DVD downstairs. A selection of board games, CDs and books, including comprehensive guide literature, is provided.
The roof top terrace, accessed via an internal timber staircase, is equipped with lighting and outdoor furniture enabling you to dine alfresco into the night.
There is private parking.
